Fly on the wall...

Most to the time I feel as significant here in India as a fly on the wall. I have no great assignment, I have no "To Do" list to accomplish while I am here in India. I am sure I am supposed to be here but for what purpose I have not yet defined. Lord "why" "what"...I keep asking ? Please do not let me leave here without doing something significant. I want to be more than a fly on the wall.

The third floor at the school (4th floor American) is two very large meeting areas with a cement floor, crank windows that open on two sides and ceilings covered in simple ceiling fans  as many as they could fit without overlapping the fan blades. We arrived at main Good Samaritan school in Jasola early this morning and gathered on the third floor for morning assembly. Amanda and Abner of the band JohnnySwim performed amazing music with the upper level students at their morning assembly. They engaged and inspired a large group of 9-12 graders even though they were a mix of Hindu, Christian and Muslim backgrounds.

After the assembly we are asked to travel into the upper grade class rooms and spend some time encouraging the students. Autumn comes up with a inspired project to do with the teens. She started with sharing some scripture and then all the students receive a piece of paper and are asked to write out their DREAMS. Share what BIG Dream God has placed on your heart? They responded and filled their pages with Big dream upon Bigger dream, what an inspired time. We were able to collect these writings to be able to pray over them even after we leave.

Abner encourages the boys try sharing their musical talents with us all. This becomes a very nice jam seccion between Abner and the young men. Those boys will cherish these memories forever. I think they each grew 6 feet taller.

Tulsie, a 11 year old girl from the elementary school was with us for most of the day. She was a very sweet, fun girl that sang like an angel. She had been asked to be included in the recording of the special song Abner and Amanda are working on. After she was recorded she just hung out and was our playful shadow all day.

We were very well feed at the school! We had a specially prepared Indian lunch that included no less than 5-7 items for us to choose from everyday in the school board room. Today we got introduced a new fruit that grows here the... Custard Apple ! Tasted kinda like a banana - mango combo.mmmm

I was leaving the school that day with a heavy heart, as I knew this was my last day at the school.  Before I left I resigned to the prayer room for a private moment with God. Still feeling like a fly on the wall, I needed to ask why am I here ? Maybe being significant was not in what I brought here but what brought me here... God is moving here in India and it is significant just to be a witness where God is doing a mighty work.

After school was out that day we were to be taken to do some sightseeing. We were all spent in more ways than one and did most of our sight seeing from the car. The traffic was no better but the streets were much cleaner as we got closer to the Presidential Palace and India Gate. We drove by some old buildings and forts we should have been thrilled to see since they were only like 3000 years old ?! But the toll of the trip was catching up and a quick peek was suffice.

We did however get out and make the 'pilgrimage' to the Lotus Temple. It is a Bahai Place of Worship. Bahai is close to Buddhism but more generic. It is a very benign spiritual place. They make you take off your shoes and no speaking out loud but you are open to pray to any God. So I prayed to the one true Living God in the empty Lotus Temple.

In the vast temple with dramatic architecture, simple interior and a spiritually empty auditorium, I prayed to heaven again... I felt like I was a fly on the wall...
